Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, flat surface.

  1. Connect to Network: Plug an Ethernet cable from your network switch into the SW port on the phone.
  2. Connect a PC (Optional): Plug an Ethernet cable from the PC port on the phone to your computer.
  3. Apply Power: Use Power over Ethernet (PoE) from the switch, or connect the external power adapter to the phone and a power outlet.
  4. Connect Handset: Plug the handset cord into the jack labeled with a handset icon.
  5. Connect Headset (Optional): Plug a headset into the 3.5mm headset jack.

WARNING! Use only the approved Cisco power adapter. Ensure cables are not pinched or damaged.

First-Time Setup

The phone will boot and attempt to register with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM).

  1. Initial Boot: Wait for the phone to complete its startup sequence. The display will show progress.
  2. Network Registration: The phone should automatically obtain an IP address via DHCP and register with CUCM.
  3. Verify Registration: Check for your extension number or user ID on the phone's idle screen.
  4. Configure Preferences: Use the phone's settings menu to set language, date/time format, and ringtone.

CAUTION! Do not unplug the phone during the boot process. Contact your system administrator if the phone does not register.

Controls and Settings

Access the main menu by pressing the Settings button (gear icon).

Front Panel: Handset, Speakerphone, Display, Keypad, Volume buttons, Mute button, Headset button, Navigation cluster (Up/Down/Left/Right/Select).

Softkeys: Context-sensitive keys below the display for functions like Answer, EndCall, Hold, Transfer, Conference, and more.

Connecting to Network

The phone has two Ethernet ports: SW (Switch) and PC.

  1. Turn off the phone and network devices before connecting cables.
  2. Connect the network cable from your LAN switch to the phone's SW port.
  3. To daisy-chain a computer, connect an Ethernet cable from the phone's PC port to your computer's network port.
  4. Apply power via PoE or the external adapter.
  5. The phone will boot and attempt to register.

Tip: Use Category 5e or higher Ethernet cables for best performance.

Making and Receiving Calls

Basic call handling procedures.

  1. Make a Call: Lift the handset or press Speakerphone. Dial the number using the keypad. Press the Dial softkey or wait for auto-dial.
  2. Answer a Call: Lift the handset, press Speakerphone, or press the Answer softkey when the phone rings.
  3. End a Call: Place the handset on-hook, press Speakerphone, or press the EndCall softkey.
  4. Hold: Press the Hold softkey during a call to place the caller on hold. Press Resume to retrieve.
  5. Transfer: During a call, press Transfer. Dial the transfer target number. Press Transfer again to complete, or press EndCall to cancel.
  6. Conference: During a call, press Conference. Dial the second party. When connected, press Conference again to merge all parties.
  7. Redial: Press the Redial softkey or the # key to dial the last number called.

WARNING! Emergency calls (e.g., 911) may require configuration by your system administrator. Know your location.

Accessibility Features

Visual Alert: Flashing LED for incoming calls and messages. Audio Adjustments: Independent volume control for handset, speaker, and ringer. High-Contrast Display: Adjust screen contrast in the User Preferences menu.

Care & Cleaning

Disconnect power before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the phone. For stubborn marks, dampen the cloth slightly with water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or sprays directly on the phone.

CAUTION! Never allow liquid to enter any openings on the phone. Keep away from excessive heat and humidity.
